Brunei Darussalam National Football team now has a new coach. Rob Johannes Maria Servais from Netherlands will lead the national squad for its next match in 2022 World Cup Qualifying round against Mongolia, which will be held in early June. The media conference on the introduction of the new coach was held this afternoon at NFABD House in Berakas.
The new coach also revealed his short-term plan in preparation of the country's squad for next month's match. The first round of 2022 World Cup Qualifying is his first official match as the national coach. Prior to this, Servais has served in Singapore, Australia and Japan. He also possessed coaching license for class 'A' AFC - FIFA, apart from EUFA's, the Union of European Football Association class 'B' and 'C' licenses. He arrived in the country last week and admitted that it is a heavy task to adapt his game pattern in a short period of time. However, he is confident with his ability in shaping the national squad. He also revealed the plan to bring the national team for training in the People's Republic of China for a friendly match against the professional club in the country. The 43-year old coach has vast experience in football training, specifically at the academy and under 23 levels.
