13 car theft cases were successfully solved by the Royal Brunei Police Force following the arrest of 2 main suspects in the Brunei Muara District. The suspects were apprehended as a result of the joint observation and investigation by the 'Special Duties' personnel from the Central, Berakas and Sengkurong Police Stations.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohammad Ziyad Bin Abdul Rahman, the Central Police Station Commanding Officer said that the first suspect, Norhamdani Shukardi bin Haji Abd Hamid, aged 46, local citizen and unemployed faces a charged under the Section 379 of the Penal Code Chapter 22 for theft. While the second suspect, a 35-year-old Rashidi bin Durashid, local citizen and unemployed is facing a charge under the Section 411 of the Penal Code Chapter 22 for dishonestly receiving the stolen item.
During the investigation, the police also found 5 stolen cars. Both suspects were brought before the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court which sentenced Rashidi bin Durashid to 18 months imprisonment and Norhamdani Shukardi bin Haji Abdul Hamid to 3 years imprisonment starting last Wednesday.
