Exposing the abilities and creative works of the Pusat Bahagia's differently abled or OKU trainees, was the aim of the 'Enabling' Art Exhibition for the Pusat Bahagia Differently Abled Trainees currently held at the Art Gallery of the Bandar Seri Begawan Royal Wharf. The exhibition organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports through the Community Development Department with the cooperation of Progresif Cellular Sendirian Berhad is also hoped to provide the differently abled with exposure to society as part of their social improvement.
The exhibition was launched by Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. 91 art works were created by 12 artists comprising trainees who are Intellectually Differently Abled, Autistic and Hearing Impaired from Pusat Bahagia Brunei Muara; Pusat Bahagia Eric Goh, Kuala Belait; Pusat Ehsan Al-Amerah Al-Hajah Maryam; and La Vida Berhad. Also present were Permanent Secretaries at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
The exhibition aimed to increase the sales of the paintings produced by the differently abled trainees as part of their income generation. The efforts also encourage and enhance cooperation between government and private sectors in developing the ability and improvement of the differently abled in the creative arena. The exhibition is open to the public until the 3rd of June.
