It cannot be denied that youths in the country have made a huge progress and play an important role in giving meaningful added value for the benefits of the community and nation. According to the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, the majority of youths have move forward and become successful pioneers in selected fields including volunteerism, civil service, creative industry and entrepreneurship and were able to expand their achievement scope at the national and international levels. Speaking during the Opening Ceremony of National Youth Congress 2019, Yang Berhormat (Retired) Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin highlighted that it is important to ensure that the achievable impact to be further enhanced and continue in the long-run.
The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports added, this is in line with the three main discussion topics for this year's congress based on the three matters that play a significant role in youth daily prospect, namely Future Ready Youth, Youth Entrepreneurship, and Youth Participation. The results were obtained from the survey and questionnaire conducted by CSPS, early this year. The objective remains the same, which is to provide a deep and continuous impact for youths, especially according to their opinion and benefits. Yang Berhormat said the success of the congress are depending on the participants' idea and direction towards establishing a clear and meaningful resolution, which is not merely a wish list.
Awang Haji Mas Reduan bin Haji Jumat, Head of Buhuth, the State Mufti Department in his keynote address titled "Belia Sebagai Pemimpin Kejayaan Wawasan Brunei 2035" or Youth as the Leader towards the success of Wawasan Brunei 20-35, among other things shared the role of youth as the country's precious asset and pillars of strength as they are the future leaders. Youths, he added, need to be shaped and guided towards a right path and become a knowledgeable, pious and noble generation. These, indirectly will help the nation to achieve Wawasan Brunei 2035 and turn Brunei Darussalam into a nation widely recognised for the accomplishments of its well-educated and highly skilled people; quality of life and dynamic and sustainable economy.
The National Youth Congress 2019 is one of the platforms for youths to reach their self-potential apart from helping other youths face today's world challenges. Various activities are lined up for the two-day congress, including forum sessions and workshop. Also in attendance were Datin Seri Paduka Doctor Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, Deputy Minister of Education; Yang Berhormat Awang Iswandy bin Ahmad and Yang Berhormat Awang Naim bin Haji Kamis, Members of the Legislative Council.
