Brunei Darussalam will join the ASEAN PARA Games which will take place next month in Manila, Philippines. The country will send its representatives to join in several events namely Athletics, Bowling, Swimming and Badminton. The athletes are currently carrying out their preparations.
Athletes in the badminton event have been training intensively since January 2019. With high spirit and guidance from an experienced coach, the country will give a strong competition to other international athletes.
According to the country's badminton doubles athletes, Haji Md Rudy Izman bin Haji Badar and Haslan bin Haji Matasan, even though they faced challenges in terms of wheelchair and for the national badminton singles athlete, Muhd Alimi bin Haji Mahli, who suffer from Cerebral Palsy, they remain in high spirit to give strong competition to obtain medals in the event.
Their deficiencies do not hinder these badminton athletes to perform in the international sports event. With high enthusiasm, the athletes hope that it is not just to win a medal, but to see the country is comparable with other countries in the world paralympic sports.
