29/06/2020  Effect of Using Disinfectant Spray Devices

National

The Ministry of Health informs the public especially business premises NOT TO USE disinfectant tunnels, disinfectant chambers, disinfectant cabinets as well as any modalities involving the spraying of disinfectants on the public who are not using personal protective equipment or PPE. The information was made following the Health Devices Alert notice received from the ECRI, a non-profit organisation for enhancing healthcare safety, quality and efficacy and also from the World Health Organisation, WHO on disinfectant spray devices.

Disinfecting via spraying can cause temporary irritation or damage to the skin, eyes and respiratory system through absorption via the skin, eyes or lungs. The negative effect from exposure to the chemicals include headaches and nausea, while other temporary or permanent health effects are dependent on the type of chemical used in the spray. If any individuals are showing such symptoms and are not feeling well after using these devices, they should immediately consult a doctor.
