Surrounded by a moderate forest, the Bukit Saeh Recreation Park in Lumapas has been upgraded by offering 4 tracks, 3 of them at a challenging level as well as 7 wasai or lakes of which 5 of them have been cleaned and provided with a number of huts as recreation places. The opening of the Bukit Saeh Recreation Park took place yesterday morning at Kampung Lumapas.
The opening was officiated by Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. Yang Berhormat said the number of tracks built shows the increasing interest of the public towards a healthy lifestyle. At the same time, it showed the solidarity of the village residents as the efforts carried out were made by the village residents themselves.
Some 6 kilometres from the capital, Bukit Saeh is the highest hill in the country, standing at about 222 metres above sea level. The upgrading efforts were carried out by the residents of Kampong Lumapas 'A' and 'B' as well as volunteers. Since it was opened in July last year, the recreation park has recorded over 6 thousand visitors. Aside from maintaining its original landscape, greenery and cleanliness, a number of safety aspects were also introduced. Yang Berhormat praised the efforts of the committee to ensure the safety of visitors by giving training to youths, specifically by the Fire and Rescue Department.
