The private sector is encouraged to be continuously involved in organising events such as Francophone Week which will help contribute to the growth of tourism products, as well as employment and economic development. According to the Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, such an event is a great platform to showcase the beauty of culture, heritage and attractions of Brunei Darussalam.

Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong stated this at the opening ceremony of Francophone Week.

At the event, Yang Berhormat Pehin handed over the prize to the winner of the short film competition. Also presenting the prizes was Her Excellency Loan Forgeron, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of France to Brunei Darussalam, as the President of Alliance Francaise. The Francophonie Week aims to celebrate the French language and culture and create more awareness on the different regions of the Francophone organisation.
