Two Malaysian nationals were fined by the Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate's Court today on charges under Section 140(1) (d) of the Excise Order 2006 in two separate cases.
31-year-old How Chin Chuan pleaded guilty of possessing 324.5 kilograms of chicken wings and 177.5 kilograms of chicken tails at a Cold Storage supermarket in Kampung Mentiri during an inspection by Law Enforcement Officers from the Royal Customs and Excise Department and the Halal Food Control Section of the Shari'ah Department on the 27th of September 2016. The accused was fined 6 thousand 310 dollars.
Meanwhile, Loi Ming Siew, who is 33 years old, pleaded guilty of possessing 291 kilograms of chicken wings found in a car when Officers from the Royal Customs and Excise Law Enforcement Section and the Shari'ah Department's Halal Food Control Section made an inspection at a supermarket in Kampung Mentiri on the 27th of September 2016. The accused was fined 3 thousand 700 dollars. All the goods were confiscated to be destroyed and the vehicle was returned.
