A tazkirah or short talk on the dangers of smoking as well as smoking habits were among the content for this month's Religious Programme which was held simultaneously in all four districts. In the Brunei Muara District, the focal point of the programme was at the Pengiran Pekerma Setia Diraja Sahibul Bandar Religious School in Kampung Perpindahan Mata-Mata.
The tazkirah explained that Islam strongly forbids the Ummah from committing harmful acts, and the act of smoking is wasteful, and therefore it is haram. The tazkirah was also filled with selawat and the Doa Peliharakan Sultan and Negara Brunei Darussalam.
A similar programme was also held in Belait District at the Pengiran Setia Jaya Pengiran Abdul Momin Religious School in Kampung Pandan. The school's headmaster explained that such a programme can assist in improving the student's achievements.
The Keriam Religious School became the focal point of the programme in the Tutong District. The tazkirah among other things explained that every inhale of cigarette is similar as inhaling 4 thousand types of chemical that can be found in said cigarette.
The religious programme was also held at Selangan Religious School in Temburong District. The talk highlighted that nicotine that can be found in cigarettes can lead to addiction and reminded that smoking can lead to a number of health issues such as fatigue, damaged blood vessel, as well as cancer.
